A Note From Mary-Frances

Being here for three weeks now has in some ways gone by so fast. In other ways though, I feel as if I have been gone from home too long. Yesterday, however, was probably my favorite day being here in Africa! We went to Agape Baptist Church where Berkley and I got a chance to play guitar for the congregation. Then they had a potluck for us in our honor. It was nice!! To top that off, we got home, chilled for a few hours, and the oldest 4 kids played Spades for a long time. Then we went to this concession stand thing (I don’t know how to describe it…maybe like a miniature Golden Pantry in a shed structure…haha!), but they have these AMAZING, mouth-watering pastries called Fritas. They taste like a fried donut in a big hush puppy sized ball…haha. =) There are also these amazing creme donuts that are heaven! 😉

After our stomachs were full, we topped the day off by playing a soccer game with like 20 African teens. =) They kept laughing at us girls, because they think it is really weird for a girl to play soccer… haha! Then I made this awful hand ball right in front of our goal, and they got a P.K. literally 2 feet in front of the goal! They didn’t make it though, thank goodness! (lol) Then these boys in the back were talking and laughing and looking at me. I asked my friend, Annie, what they were saying about me, and she was like, “You don’t want to know!” I was like, “YES, I dooooo!”…haha. It turned out that they were saying, “She is the bad one of them all!!” (lol) I just laughed, because I figured it out… haha! =) Then we had this really sweet Bible college student named Kenneth come over for dinner, and he tried to teach us a little bit of Bimba! It made me mad, because he knows 7 languages! Ahhh! I feel really dumb… haha. Well, that was my amazing day in Africa! I hope all of you Americans are doing great! I love all of you guys and can’t wait to see you again!!!

Love,
Mary-Frances Stearns =)
