Dave’s Thoughts From ’09

Why interrupt life in the USA for a year and move your entire family into a third world country in Africa?

  1. Why not?  I am beginning to believe that the burden of proof lies in not doing this.
  2.

  3. This is the least I can do to serve my Lord.  The battle for the growing Kingdom of God is vast and complex.  This battle requires the focus of every willing and able body.  This is the least that my family and me can do.
  4.

  5. Jesus commands us to do this.  Mathew 28:18-20.  “Go Ye therefore and make disciples of Pantata Ethne (every people group, every Nation) and lo I will be with you!”
  6.

  7. The needs of the people in Africa are deep and overwhelming and I want to share the strength of my family to do our part to help meet as many of these needs as possible in the name of Jesus Christ.
  8.

  9. I am saddened by the deadening effect that our secular materialistic culture has had on the Church and more specifically on me.  I feel helpless to make the necessary lifestyle changes that I feel I need to make.  I am weary of the pace of life in America.  I am loosing my interest for all that we value here more than the Gospel and treasuring Christ.  I want to be able to live a balanced life in this area and to train my wife and children likewise.  I believe that living in Africa for an entire year will “reset” these areas.
  10.

  11. I am hoping that coming back to America I will better be able to live here and be more effective as a believer with a Kingdom mindset here.
  12.

  13. I am hoping that by going exactly where God leads that my family and I can be a part of ongoing lifetime ministry there in Africa that will afford numerous future trips for many others and us.
