“They Finished Well!”

As I am writing this our sweet oldest three daughters are fast approaching Atlanta. Their plane arrives at 10:34AM today Thursday March 29th. I have so much to say regarding the last 2 months here in Africa and about how well Lydia, Mary-Frances and Virginia finished.  As a Dad I can tell you my buttons are popping off!  Shelley and I are so proud of them and their tireless and faithful service to their Lord.   Continue reading

Much overdue!

Hi!  I can’t believe how quickly the days are “running.”  So much has happened since our last post, it is hard to know where to begin.  I will try to give a brief overview of the last 2 months and then Dave will give a more detailed account of ways the Lord has been working with his ministry. Continue reading

Reflections and Looking Forward

As the first month of our new year comes to an end, I am struck with amazement of the work God has done in all of our lives while here in Zambia.  Dave and I traveled to Lusaka this week to submit the adoption papers for Samson.  Yes, God continued to perform miracles last week when Samson’s father’s brother signed the forms consenting to his being adopted by us.  Continue reading

Adoption…

Now that we are foster parents in the Zambian Social Welfare system we are pursuing adoption with great hopes and faith in our God who is both Lord over all things and who is able to accomplish all that He determines in His sovereign decree. Shelley and I continue to learn that when we take our eyes off this truth, we fall into discouragement and even anxiety as it relates to adopting Samson. Continue reading

Lydia’s eye, Christmas in South Africa and Year End Giving!

This update will be brief since our internet time here at Cape St. Francis Beach is very limited. James tells us the prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much. It is always important that we keep the proper theological tension between our responsibility to go to our Father in prayer and His ultimate sovereignty. I must confess I don’t always understand how these are linked but I know they are. The situation with Lydia’s eye has been a big challenge for us. We have wanted so much to bring God glory in how we handled this but at times there was a fine line between this and outright panic! Continue reading

Prayer Request for Lydia

Hey!  Just a quick request.  Lydia’s eye is not getting better.  She is in constant pain and her vision in her left eye is still blurry. (She can’t see 2 feet in front of her from that eye).   Continue reading

Being Thankful

During our Thanksgiving gathering with 33 other Americans last Thursday, we were asked to share something that we were thankful for. Immediately I thought that I am so thankful that my ways are not always God’s ways. Continue reading
