Just Thankful Today…

It is Saturday afternoon 11-19-11 here at 4PM and I just dropped Shelley, David, Ella and Samson off at the Sara Rose Orphanage for a birthday party for Kachingwe and Nicholas. Virginia and Sadie Grace are outside playing with the neighbor kids that also live within our wall fence. Lydia and Mary-Frances are spending time with the youth at Agape Baptist. We will all head to the Walker’s tonight for prayer and family worship where we are also completing Focus on the Families Truth Project as well. I am preaching tomorrow and my message is titled “Possessing a heart for the heart of God.” I am finishing this message as well as writing this post before we leave. In a word I would describe how I feel right now as just thankful today. There are so many reasons why but I will give you a few. Continue reading

Never Say Never!

It is hard to believe that two months have passed since I last posted.  Sadie Grace told me a couple of weeks ago, “Mom, it seems like it is Sunday, and then it is Sunday again.”  That is so true.  The days are flying by!  I can’t believe that we have reached the 1/2 way mark.  God has been so gracious to us and we have fallen into such a fulfilling routine.  Between school, playtime with our neighbors, ministry to the orphans, Dave’s teaching schedule, youth activities for the older girls, The Truth Project with other American missionaries and a once a week pot luck dinner with them our days are quite full. Hey guys! Sorry it has been so long since I have posted.

First, I want to thank everyone for all your prayers when I was sick.  I am very grateful.  God’s healing hand was definitely on me and I was better in a few days after I had taken the medicine.  Now I want to tell you about an amazing opportunity I have.  Continue reading

I have waited too long again … get a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the goodness of God below!

When your child is in one of those growth spurts and you don’t take photos often you will miss that stage forever. We in our family ministry with the Zambians have been in a growth spurt and I am sorry for the late snaps! (What they call photos here) I want to update you in the following areas:

1. Culture Shock
2. God’s elect
3. Zambian elections
4. Baptism and God’s sense of humor
5. Street Boys growing in grace

To Embrace or to Endure?

“This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. ” Such a familiar verse of praise to the Lord. Something that I have been struggling with.

About 2 months ago Dave challenged me with a simple question, “Are you going to embrace living here in Zambia or just endure it?” I answered him honestly, “I really don’t know if I can embrace all that God wants me to. I am trying, but the embracing may not come until I am home.” Continue reading

Hey this is David,
My Grandmother and Grandad got here on Sunday. We picked them up from the Ndola airport. It was really fun to see them! The last couple of days we have been doing a lot of things with them. Continue reading

We Can Stay!!

I just wanted to let you know that Dave’s work permit was submitted and a receipt was issued!  I guess as of now, God’s plan is for us to stay in Zambia until our commitments here are fulfilled.  It was a long day for Ba Kapya, and we are thankful for his willingness and knowledge to persevere and get the paper that says that the work visa is in the process of being approved.  When he arrived in Lusaka, the immigration office told him that the cashier’s check that he had on hand was too much.  (When does a government office ever tell you that you have given too much money? 🙂 ) Continue reading

Prayer request and Quick Up Date on Helping Max

I just finished the second meeting with Mr. Kapya who is the man the Lord has provided as my representative at Immigration in Lusaka. His services are not cheap but he is experienced in dealing with Immigration in Lusaka. I have invested a significant amount of time with him and in gathering the daunting amount of required documents needed in order to obtain a 2 year Work Permit. Continue reading

What we did last Thursday

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to give you an update about what we did last Thursday. That day was Ella and Sadie Graces’ first field trip with CCM Trust School! So Mom, Lydia, Mary-Frances and I tagged a long. Ella and Sadie Grace got to ride in a big blue bus with their class mates and the rest of us followed behind in our car, along with Mr. Tembo the head teacher. Continue reading
